The problem

Selling SMS at scale isn't just sending messages. For every message you need to know which route carried it, whether it was actually delivered, what it cost, and how much credit the client has left — across suppliers that settle in different currencies.

What I built

  • An SMPP bridge that accepts client traffic, routes it to upstream suppliers and collects delivery receipts (DLRs) back.
  • An admin console (React + Vite) for clients, routes, delivery status and usage reports, backed by Node.js and Supabase.
  • Billing that converts supplier rates (for example EUR) into client currency and tracks reseller credit automatically.
  • Runs as separate long-lived processes under PM2 so the messaging bridge and the admin side can restart independently.

The hard part

  • Matching asynchronous delivery receipts back to the original message and client reliably.
  • Getting money right: multi-currency settlement and credit that never drifts from actual usage.

Result

One place that answers the questions that matter to an SMS business: what was sent, what arrived, what it cost and who owes what.
